Matthew Chapter 6 verse 19 to 34

Sermon notes. Matthew Chapter 6 verse 19 to 34

Are you anxious, worried, upset, even fearful in this current uncertain climate, that you will not have enough, and that God will not be enough to carry you through?

Deeply rooted anxieties, fears and uncertainties, we all have them and struggle with them. we worry over our finances, our jobs, our futures. We are anxious about our health, our families, our children. We lie awake at night and worry if we will have enough, if God will be enough to carry us through these difficult times.

1: Do not let worry tear you apart: You have a Heavenly Father who knows all your needs and who cares for you and all that you are going through. Matthew 6:25-32.

‘So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat? Or ‘What shall we drink? Or ‘What shall we wear? ‘For the pagans run after all these things, and your Heavenly Father knows that you need them.’ v32.

‘Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask.’ Matthew 6:8

‘Cast all your anxiety on Him, because He cares for you.’ 1 Peter 5:7

‘He gives food to those who trust Him. He always remembers His covenant.’ Psalm 111:5

Question: Do you realise that when you worry, you are really asking God if He knows and cares about you and what you are going through? Can you trust Him to care for you in your present difficulties and to bring you through?

2: Do not let worry tear you apart: You have a Heavenly Father who knows your future and controls what you cannot control.

‘Therefore I tell you, do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of it’s won.’ V34

‘For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the LORD. Jeremiah 29:11

‘All the days ordained for me were written into Your Book before one of them came to be.’ Psalm 139:16.

Question: Is there a battle going on inside you? Do you want to be in control of your own future or are you willing to surrender your life and future into God’s hands and God’s control, and not take it back again? Can you trust God with your future?

3: Do not let worry tear you apart: You have a Heavenly Father who you can trust to meet all your needs. Will you put Him first and trust Him in all your present difficulties. V30-33

‘And my God will meet all your needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus.’ Philippians 4:19.

‘Your Heavenly Father already knows all your needs and He will give you all you need from day to day, if you live for Him and make the Kingdom of God your primary concern.’ Matthew 6:32-33.

‘I sought the LORD and He answered me. He delivered me from all my fears.’ Psalm 34:4

Question: To believe in God is to believe in His timing. Are you trusting God – His will, His way, His timing – that He will meet all your needs just as He promised in the Bible?

Question: Do you need to come to God, or come back to God afresh this morning and seek Him as your Number One priority and concern for your life and living? Has something else or someone else taken His place in your heart and affections?

I can DO this one thing, take this one step to put this talk into action in my life this week__________________________.
