Genesis Chapter 15 verse 1 to 6

Do you believe in God, I mean really believe in GOD, deeply trust Him to keep HIS promises to you – even when these promises seem impossible?

1: GOD speaks to Abram. ‘The Word of the LORD came to Abram.’ This is the first time this phrase appears in the Old Testament and it will appear 100 times – 6 times in this one Chapter, God speaks.

The LORD loves to speak to YOU – when YOU listen to Him.

The LORD is speaking right NOW – are YOU listening?

2: What does the LORD say to Abram?

‘DO NOT be afraid, Abram.’

Question: What are YOU fearful about today?

Hudson Taylor, China Inland Mission, when going through a really dark and difficult time when everything looked very bleak and dark said this, ‘I cannot read (the Bible) I cannot even pray, BUT I can Trust.’

Isaiah 41:10, ‘Do Not fear for I am with You, do Not be dismayed for I am your GOD. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold your up with my righteous right hand.

GOD says – I AM.

1: I am Your shield (defender / protector) I will take care of YOU because You are my precious son / daughter.

2: I am Your very great reward – I will provide for You – give you every spiritual blessing – meet Your every need – provide for you in every way.

‘My God will meet all your needs, according to HIS glorious riches in Christ Jesus.’ Philippians 4 v19.

V6 ‘ Abram believed the LORD and HE credited it to him as righteousness.’

This verse is absolutely the MOST important verse in the Old Testament in unlocking how you and I can be made right / put right / brought right into a saving relationship with GOD. It’s Quoted in 3 Books in the New Testament:

Romans Chapter 4 – Galatians Chapter 3 – James Chapter 2.

‘We are made right in God’s sight when we trust in Jesus Christ to take away our sins. And we all can be saved in this same way, no matter who we are or what we have done. We are made right with GOD when we believe that JESUS shed His blood, sacrificing His life for us.’

‘Can we boast that we have done anything to be accepted by GOD. NO! because our acquittal is NOT based on our good deeds. It is based on faith. So we are made right with God through faith and NOT by good things we do. There is only One God and there is only one way of being accepted by Him. He makes people right with Himself by faith.’

For the Scriptures tell us, ‘Abraham believed God, and God counted him as righteous because of his faith.’

For Abraham is the father of all who believe. Abraham never wavered in believing God’s promise. In fact, his faith grew stronger, and in this he brought glory to God. He was fully convinced that God is able to do whatever He promises. And when God counted him as righteous, it wasn’t just for Abraham’s benefit. It was recorded for our benefit, too, assuring us that God will also count us as righteous if we believe in Him, the One who raised Jesus our Lord from the dead.’

‘I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.’ Galatians 2 v20

‘And now that you belong to Christ, you are the true children of Abraham. You are his heirs, and God’s promise to Abraham belongs to you.’ Galatians 3 v29
