Genesis Chapter 14

WAKE UP CHURCH – There are spiritual battles going on all around us. It’s time for us to rise up and take action if we are going to see our families saved.

1: The battles and the struggles that you see in the world all around us – not only affect the people ‘out there’ – BUT they will touch and impact our families as well. v1 to v12.

Sodom and Gomorrah are known in Genesis and in the whole Bible as particularly wicked and sinful cities.

1. ‘The sin of your sister Sodom was this: She lived with her daughters in the lap of luxury-proud, gluttons, and laziness. They ignored the oppressed and the poor. They put on airs and lived obscene lives.’
2. They were know for sexual immorality 2 Peter 2 v7.

Chapter 13 v10, Lot looked towards Sodom. v12, Lot lived in tents near Sodom. Ch 14v12, Lot is living in Sodom.

Question: Where are You with GOD right now? Are you where You ought to be? Are you sticking close to JESUS or are you compromising and drifting with the crowd? And what about your family?

2: When our family do get into trouble and are caught up in battle – We need to be like Abram. We need to pray, act quickly and courageously if we are to save and rescue them. Chapter 14 v13-14.

‘Put on all God’s armour so that you will be able to stand safe against all strategies and tricks of Satan. For we are not fighting against people made of flesh and blood, but against persons without bodies – the evil rulers of the unseen world, those mighty satanic beings and great evil princes of darkness who rule this world; and against huge numbers of wicked spirits in the spirit world. So use every piece of God’s armour to resist the enemy whenever he attacks, and when it is all over, you will still be standing up.’ Ephesians Chapter 6 v11-12 Living Bible.

‘I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world. John 16 v33.

‘The LORD is a Warrior, the LORD is His Name.’ Exodus 15 v3.

Question: How seriously are You taking this battle that is raging over your family and friends?

Are we as determined and courageous as Abram to get back what the enemy has stolen from our families?

3: In these fierce battles that we are facing, we are NEVER, Ever fighting on our own. JESUS NEVER, EVER stops praying with us and for our families. V17 to v24.

‘Jesus has already gone into God’s Presence in Heaven for us. He has become our eternal High Priest in the order of Melchizedek -because Jesus lives forever, his priesthood lasts forever. Therefore he is able, once and forever, to save those who come to God through him. He lives forever to intercede with God on their behalf.’ Hebrews 6 v20 and 7 v24-25.

‘And the Holy Spirit helps us in our weakness. For example, we don’t know what God wants us to pray for. But the holy Spirit prays for us with groanings that cannot be expressed in words. And the Father who knows all hearts knows what the Spirit is saying, for the Spirit pleads for us believers in harmony with God’s own will.’ Who then will condemn us? No one for Christ Jesus died for us and was raised to life for us, and he is sitting in the place of honour at God’s right hand, pleading for us. Romans 8 v26 and v34.

Question: What struggles are you going through and what worries do you have? Can you bring those worries to JESUS in prayer, knowing and believing that He will carry You, Your family and those worries before our Loving Heavenly Father right NOW?
